The TQII language proficiency test battery is designed to evaluate prospective IEP interpreters' ability to communicate in both English and languages other than English. The purpose of the test battery is to determine if prospective interpreters have adequate language skills that allow them to succeed in interpretation and special education training.
The test battery consists of proficiency tests for a wide range of languages that are commonly spoken in the State of Illinois. Each language proficiency test has three parts: Listen and Repeat, Integrated Speaking, and Interactive Reading. Prospective interpreters can choose to test on two or multiple languages in which they wish to provide interpretation services.
The TQII language proficiency test battery is required for candidates who do not have a language proficiency exemption.
